Grip ‘n Sip president, Jaime Rapaport is the inventor of this unique beverage can holder. Born and raised in Bolivia, Jaime moved to the United States in 1962, attended school at the City College of New York and became a citizen in 1964.

Having worked with his wife Anita in the retail business most of his professional life, Jaime was always happiest working in his garage on new ideas. His passion for working with exotic woods produced a variety of creative art pieces that are shown in the homes of fine art collectors around thee country. He also works with acrylics creating three dimensional photographic art pieces that feature everything from landscapes to ballerinas.

The brainstorm for the Grip ‘n Sip came to Jaime while he was enjoying a hockey game in Laredo, Texas. He noticed how the spectators were holding cans of beer and soda and how the napkins wrapped around the cans were being destroyed by the condensation created from the warmth of the hand and the chill of the beverage. He thought that somehow he could design an acrylic can holder that would turn the can into a stein or mug so that the hand would not heat up the beverage. Surely he could design a holder that would allow you to enjoy a really cold, refreshing drink for a longer period of time without all that sweaty condensation! And wouldn’t it be nice if the holder could fit on the back of a stadium seat so that fans could enjoy the game, hands free?

Jaime went through several prototypes. He knew that it had to be balanced just right so that it was comfortable in the hand, easy to carry and most importantly that it would fit securely on the can. Finally he had the perfect design and the Grip ‘n Sip was born!
